NORTH PROVIDENCE - Joe Melise, a town resident and graduate of North Providence High School, has opened Joe's House of Cuts at 1903 Mineral Spring Ave.

Melise, 28, said he's been licensed to cut hair for three years. After years practicing his haircutting techniques on his friends, he was ready to open his own shop.

Two other male barbers and a female hairstylist also do business at Joe's House of Cuts, and Melise is looking for more people to join the team.

His cuts are a "very competive" $15, said Melise, and includes a shave and eyebrow work.

New patrons will experience great cuts and quality conversation here, said Melise. Two TVs play mostly sports and there's also a stereo system and soda/candy machines.

Melise said he does a little bit of everything when it comes to haircuts for men and boys, from regular and gentleman's cuts to fades, temps and designs. Barbers and stylists "are always here" and welcoming new people, he said.

The number for Joe's House of Cuts is 401-559-2401. Melise doesn't yet have a website so his business is currently only on Facebook.
