Den's Auto Repair gets new owners

Denis Deslauriers is the new owner of Den's Auto Repair at 351 Douglas Pike in Smithfield.

SMITHFIELD - Denis Deslauriers and his wife, Dawn, are continuing an auto repair service first founded in 1946 as the new owners of Den's Auto Repair, 351 Douglas Pike, behind Sleboda's gas station.

With over 25 years of experience, Deslauriers says he had never dreamed of owning his own business. But now that he is his own boss and the only employee, he loves it.

"It's a one-man shop," he said. "You know who's working on (your car). I'm an honest mechanic."

Den's Auto Repair officially opened for business on March 1 but plans a grand opening in June. It's open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

"Basically I offer work on the timing belt, an oil change, I do it all," Deslauriers said. "The labor mostly costs $80 an hour. The quality is there. It gets done and it gets done right. I touch and check every bolt."

The business is family run as his wife is his secretary. Deslauriers said they have the newest equipment so he can work on cars from the 1960s up to 2015.
