Support veterans with 'Run-Walk to Home Base'

BLACKSTONE - Local residents can help support the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program at a beer and dynamite fundraiser to be held on Saturday, May 10, from 6 to 11 p.m.

This will be Blackstone resident Chris Lanctot's 5th consecutive year participating in the fundraiser, which aims to help veterans suffering from invisible wounds of war from their service in Iraq and Afghanistan. This year, Lanctot will be dedicating his run to two firefighters who died fighting a fire on Beacon Street in Boston this past March, Lt. Ed Walsh and firefighter Michael Kennedy.

"I will be running 'Dork Strong' in the acclaimed T-shirt first seen worn by firefighter Mike Kennedy's girlfriend Sarah Wessman in this year's Boston Marathon," said Lanctot.

Lanctot serves as an on-call firefighter for the Blackstone Fire Department.

The 4th Annual Beer & Dynamite fundraiser to support the Home Base Program will take place Saturday, May 10 from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 380 Social St., Woonsocket. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the door. This is a 21-and-older event. The event will be sponsored by Samuel Adams and will include entertainment by Adam Go., raffles and a silent auction.
