Scituate official's husband charged with assault

SCITUATE – The husband of Scituate Town Councilor Brenda Frederickson has been charged with felony assault and four misdemeanors after brandishing a shotgun during what the police report calls a "lover's quarrel."

Howard Frederickson, 45, of 1051 Chopmist Hill Road, was arraigned May 5 in District Court. He was arrested the night before, May 4, after 9 p.m. at his home, per a report provided by the Scituate Police Department, which does not identify the victim.

David D'Agostino, an attorney with Gorham & Gorham Inc., said no one had been shot with the gun, though he was not able to provide more details.

Frederickson is charged with domestic felony assault using a shotgun, domestic simple assault/battery using hands and feet, domestic disorderly conduct, and two counts of domestic vandalism/malicious injury to property.

The police report lists him as the owner of a Winchester 1200 12-gauge pump action shotgun, and a Remington 12-gauge model 870, both of which were reportedly taken as evidence by police.

Frederickson was released on $50,000 bail, and next court appearance has been listed as July 7.
