Citizen input urged on Comprehensive Plan update

CUMBERLAND - An update of the Cumberland Comprehensive Plan will include a series of public hearings, says town planner Josh O'Neill, who announced the dates and general topics for each.

Town officials are urging residents to attend some or all of these sessions to assist with updating this town plan that will lay the foundation for the planning goals and policies of the town for the next 20 years.

It's due to be finished by mid-October.

The series of meetings will be held at the Hayden Center of the Cumberland Public Library, 1464 Diamond Hill Road, from 7 to 9 p.m.

O'Neill lists the following dates and topics, but notes that topics are likely to overlap from one hearing to the next.

* June 10 - Goals and Policies, Land Use, Public Services and Facilities, Education

* July 8 - Housing, Economic Development, Open Space and Recreation

* Aug. 12 - Natural Resources, Cultural Resources

* Sept. 9 - Circulation, Natural Hazards, Implementation

* Oct. 14 - Full draft ready for review
