Landmark Medical Center seeks adult volunteers

WOONSOCKET - Landmark Medical Center is accepting applications for adult volunteers in many areas for their Cass Avenue facility, as well as at the Rehabilitation Hospital of R.I. in North Smithfield. The opportunities are suitable for a retiree looking for a rewarding way to spend some time or someone who simply enjoys helping others. Available volunteer opportunities include:

Hospital Greeter/Guide - Volunteers will¬?greet people at the door and help visitors and outpatients find their destination by escorting them. All that is required is a friendly smile and a good pair of sneakers. Shifts are available Monday through Friday anytime between 8 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Emergency Room Greeters - This volunteer will greet patients and families as they enter the Emergency Department, helping to direct and escort them to the appropriate area, and will also act as a liaison between ER staff and families in the waiting area. Shifts are available Sunday through Saturday, anytime between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Clerical Assistants - Volunteers assist staff in filing, photocopying, mailing and making follow-up phone calls. Help is needed in several different administrative areas. Shifts are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Volunteers must complete an interview, background check, immunization screening, and participation in a hospital orientation. Training is provided. A commitment of four hours a week, for a minimum of six months, is also required.

Landmark Medical Center is located at 115 Cass Ave. and has an extensive volunteer program, with participants ranging in age from 14 to 90 volunteering throughout the hospital.
