Three-alarm fire displaces Woonsocket residents

WOONSOCKET - A fire at 147 Louise St. on Thursday, June 5 injured two firefighters and left several residents without a home.

The Woonsocket Fire Department was called to the three-story building around 5:30 p.m. The three-alarm blaze would require mutual aid from the neighboring communities of Lincoln, Cumberland, North Smithfield, Smithfield, and Franklin before it was extinguished. Residents of the building were safely evacuated, but one pet was reportedly killed in the blaze.

Two firefighters were taken by rescue to be treated for minor injuries.

The Red Cross is providing temporary shelter for the displaced residents.

The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.
