Robbery call leads to drug arrest in Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET - Officers responding to a call about a possible break-in at 45 Capital St. on Sunday failed to find a robber but did find drugs.

The Pawtucket Police Department got a call from someone who claimed to have heard a loud crash on the second floor of 45 Capital St. Officers arrived to investigate and found that the apartment on that floor had been broken into.

Officers say they entered the apartment to see if anyone was inside. After entering they observed two clear plastic bags containing marijuana and one clear plastic bag contained seven smaller plastic bags of cocaine.

The tenant of the apartment arrived home while the officers were checking the apartment. Doumatto Doumato, age 55, was immediately arrested.

Members of the Pawtucket Police Special Squad got a search warrant to search the entire apartment. During the search they found 12.5 ounces of cocaine, six ounces of marijuana, $8,395 in cash, and scales, packaging and other materials commonly associated with distribution of drugs.

Doumato was brought to District Court Tuesday and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, maintaining a common nuisance/controlled substances, and a second controlled substance offense. He was held without bail after arraignment.
