Latest Cumberland Police log, June 2-8
Here’s the latest log of Cumberland police activity, submitted by the Cumberland Police Department, for the week of June 2 to 8.
6:16 p.m.: During a vehicle stop on Mendon Road near Route 116, a records check of the operator, Amy Lapointe, 23, of Woonsocket found a suspended Rhode Island driver’s license. Lapointe was issued a District Court summons on scene for driving on a suspended license and also a Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal summons for operating without evidence of insurance and inspection sticker required. She was released on scene.
5:23 p.m.: Officers responded to 31B Scott Road for a disturbance and took into custody Timothy Lawrence, 31, of Cumberland on two outstanding District Court bench warrants.
9:30 a.m.: While executing a search warrant at 1 Brayton Court, police seized more than 14 ounces of marijuana and more than $4,700 cash. The search warrant were obtained after a months long joint investigation with both the Central Falls and Lincoln police departments. Silva Soulage, 37, of 1 Brayton Court was arrested on scene and charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana, a felony, and was transported to headquarters. Soulage was later arraigned in District Court, posted bail and was released pending her next court appearance.
7:20 p.m.: Following a motor vehicle stop on West Barrows Street, police arrested the operator, David Haskell, 45, of Cumberland on suspicion of driving under the influence of liquor or drugs. He was transported to headquarters and later released with a District Court summons for driving under the influence of liquor or drugs. He was also issued Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal summons for refusal to submit to chemical test, presence of open alcoholic beverages while operating a motor vehicle, and intervals between vehicles/following too close.
7:56 p.m.: Officers responding to a report of suspicious vehicle in the Sun Valley Drive area arrested, on an outstanding warrant, Nicolas Rioux, 31, for vandalism and disorderly conduct. The warrant is the result of an incident that took place at Perfect Fit Tailors on Mendon Road in November of 2009. Rioux was transported to headquarters and released with a District Court summons.
12:14 p.m.: Officers responded to Stop & Shop, 70 Mendon Road, for a shoplifting complaint. Officers arrested Joseph Aponte, 44, of Central Falls for shoplifting several packs of batteries, spare ribs, and shrimp. He was transported to headquarters where he was released with a District Court summons for shoplifting.
11:25 p.m.: Officers observed a female standing in the middle of Broad Street near John Street. A records check of 26 year old Samantha Dumond, 26, of Providence revealed an outstanding District Court bench warrant. She was taken into custody and transported to headquarters before being brought to the ACI, Cranston.
11:41 p.m.: Officers responded to a motor vehicle accident in the area of 301 Broad St. found no injuries but a subsequent investigation provided probable cause for the arrest of the operator Kate Misiasek, 31, of Cross Street, Central Falls, for suspicion of driving under the influence of liquor or drugs. She was transported to headquarters and later released with a District Court summons for driving while under the influence of liquor or drugs/BAC unknown and a Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal summons for refusal to submit to a chemical test and interval between vehicles/following too close.
2:19 p.m.: Officers responded to a domestic disturbance on Baldwin Street. After an investigation, Brian Aiello, 32, of Cumberland was taken into custody and charged with domestic simple assault and domestic disorderly conduct. He was transported to headquarters and later released after an arraignment before a bail commissioner.
