Glocester GOP endorses Fung

GLOCESTER – The Fung for Governor Campaign announced the Glocester Republican Town Committee voted unanimously on June 10 to endorse Allan Fung for governor.

Glocester became the 15th of Rhode Island’s Republican city and town committees to endorse Fung, according to the campaign committee, joining: Warren, Burrillville, Cranston, East Greenwich, Exeter, Foster, Middletown, Narragansett, North Providence, Pawtucket, Scituate, Westerly, Newport, Warwick, and Woonsocket. Additionally, the Rhode Island Young Republicans and the Rhode Island Republican Party’s National Committeeman, Steven Frias and National Committeewoman, Carol Mumford both have endorsed Fung, the campaign says.

In a statement, Ted Burlingame, chairman of the Glocester Republican Committee, said the committee "chose to support Allan Fung for three important reasons: experience, accomplishments, and leadership. Mayor Fung has served as a fiscally responsible Republican and with great success. He has created a business-friendly environment and brought new businesses and developments to Cranston, creating over 1,000 new private sector jobs. He has cut spending and balanced budgets without raising taxes for three consecutive years. We are confident that Mayor Fung has experience and vision to lead our state and will stand up for the taxpayers of Rhode Island.”
