Family Literacy Center summer programs

LINCOLN - The Family Literacy Center is offering its summer programs in July and August and its summer hours have begun.

The Center will be open Monday through Wednesdays from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., on Thursdays noon-6 p.m. and on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will be weekly events during the summer program. To begin there will be Marvelous Monday, from 11 a.m.-noon that involves "Cooking with Jillian," that is open to all ages. Terrific Tuesday, from 11 a.m.-noon that includes, "Fun with Science" with Jared Walsh for a different experiment each week. This program is for ages 10 and up. Wacky Wednesday, at 11 a.m., there is story-time for Preschoolers, ages 5 and under along with a parent/caretaker. Thunderous Thursday, at 4 p.m., is craft day, ages 8-13. And everyday there will be games, crafts, computers, and more. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Another summer program is its Summer Reading Program, Pete the Cat, "Rock out and Read." Sign ups for pre-K through eighth grade are now until July 3. Along with this there is also summer reading help. Teachers and students from the Lincoln school district will offer their assistance to students with their summer reading projects. Bring your reading book and your journal for review or help getting started. Early Bird Special is Tuesday, July 22 at 10 a.m.-noon. and the Last Minute Sprint is on Thursday, Aug. 14 from 1-3 p.m.
