Marciano will seek re-election to School Committee

NORTH PROVIDENCE - Anthony Marciano Sr. has announced that he will seek re-election to the North Providence School Committee at-large seat as a Democrat against fellow Democrats Kenneth Amoriggi and David Ferrante.

Marciano, the chairman of the committee, is a lifelong resident of the town of North Providence and has been married to Cynthia (Ferucci) Marciano for the last 48 years. He also has two sons, Anthony Jr. and Michael Marciano.

He graduated from LaSalle Academy and went on to receive his bachelor's degree from Providence College and then his law degree from Suffolk University Law. He is a lifelong parishioner at the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in North Providence.

Marciano is a life member of the Marieville Volunteer Fire Department and a trustee of the Presentation Church. He has been the chairman of the North Providence Cancer Fund Drive, is a religious instructor for Presentation Parish and he was also a member of the North Providence Athletic Advisory Committee.

Marciano said he is looking "to continue to put the needs of the students and the community of North Providence first." He said he has dedicated his life to serving the citizens of North Providence, serving on the North Providence School Committee since 1995. He also served the town as a state senator from 1979 to 1994.

Marciano said he helped to attain a full New England Association of Schools and Colleges accreditation for North Providence High School. Despite "difficult fiscal conditions," he continues to support maintaining all academic, athletic and extra-curricular programs.

Marciano said he feels that with his background he "can continue to be an advocate for North Providence taxpayers and families."
