Saki's in Cumberland needs a new home

With two weeks to go at the Tedeschi's Plaza, Saki's Pizzeria and Grill employees Moris Shihata and Faith Debolt keep smiling despite what they describe as uncertainty about where they'll be relocating - just ahead of the wrecking ball. Saki's and all others who shared this plaza on Diamond Hill Road learned just a month or so ago that Okonite Company has bought out their property to make way for a huge expansion of the former Rhode Island Novelty building on Industrial Road. Saki's staff said this week they must finally abandon their shop by July 21. There was no hint of the new location except that the general Chapel Four Corners area is preferred. Okonite, a cable firm, will be expanding nearly to Diamond Hill Road as it makes room for all new equipment that allows this company to remain in Cumberland. (Valley Breeze photos by Marcia Green)

Other stores in the strip mall are closed but Saki's remains open on Diamond Hill Road.
