Paul A. Morel - Cumberland

Paul A. “Moe” Morel, 75, of Cumberland, and formerly of Mendon Road, Woonsocket, died Saturday, July 12 at Philip Hulitar Center. He was the beloved husband of Marcelle “Marcy” (Jolicoeur) Morel.

Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Dolor and Emma (Paul) Morel. He was a 1956 graduate of Mount St. Charles Academy. Paul was a U.S. Navy veteran from 1956-1962 and served on the destroyer, the USS Yosemite. He was a drummer in the Navy Band and performed for President Eisenhower.

He was a graduate of Johnson & Wales College, earning a degree in Business Administration. Paul was a general supervisor for General Motors for 25 years, retiring in 1989. He later worked for Eussie Press as a supervisor for many years.

After his retirement, Paul worked part time for the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home as their number one man. He enjoyed crossword puzzles especially Sudoku, but most of all he enjoyed traveling and making memories with his wife and family. He was a compassionate and loving man and will truly be missed by all who knew him.

He was the loving father of Gary P. Morel and his wife Suzanne of Woonsocket, Paul R. Morel and his wife Kristen of Colorado, Gail Raymond and her companion Norman Svendsen of Attleboro, Mass., Karen J. Johns and her husband Edward of Webster, Mass., and Kim M. Innis and her husband Marc of Woonsocket; and stepdaughter, Lynne M. Gilpatrick and her husband Ted of Blackstone. He also is survived by his brother, Henry P. Morel of Woonsocket; and 13 grandchildren, and a soon-to-be great-grandchild. He was also the brother of the late Raymond Morel.

His funeral will be held Thursday, July 17 at 9 A.M. from the Fournier and Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in All Saints Church, Rathbun Street. A committal service with military honors will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held from Wednesday 5-8 P.M.
