Spaulding/Johnson House open for summer tours

PAWTUCKET - The Spaulding/Johnson House, former home of longtime city historian Betty Johnson, will be open from 10 a.m. to noon on Mondays, July 28, Aug. 4 and Aug. 18.

The house was built by Pawtucket chairmaker Joseph Spaulding and was restored and furnished with period antiques and decorative arts by John and Betty Johnson in the 1980s. It was formerly owned by the Pawtucket History Research Center, which was founded by Betty Johnson. The center is now owned by the Preservation Society of Pawtucket.

The Spaulding/Johnson House is located at 30 Fruit St. in the South Street Historic District between Vernon and Pond streets. There will be guided tours at 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., and an optional walking tour of the district at 11 a.m. The donation is $5 per person.
