Woonsocket man accused of assaulting Catherine Salvi indicted for murder

WOONSOCKET – The man accused of causing the death of his 24-year-old girlfriend in December has been indicted for charges of domestic murder and possession of a controlled substance.

Emmanuel Algaria, 22, of 316 Manville Road allegedly assaulted Catherine Salvi, his live-in girlfriend and the mother of his two-year-old son, on Dec. 13. Salvi spent three weeks in a coma from severe head trauma, and died on Jan. 5. According to reports, Algaria was in possession of marijuana and Methylone, or "molly' at the time of the arrest.

Algaria was indicted by a Providence County Grand Jury and is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on Aug 27.
