Suspect sought in Lincoln bank robbery

LINCOLN – Officials from the Lincoln Police Department are looking for a male suspect who allegedly held up the Bank of American on Smithfield Avenue Monday, Aug. 11.

According to Capt. Philip Gould, the department received a call at 3:55 p.m. from a teller at the bank, located at 611 Smithfield Ave.

The employee reported that an unidentified male walked into the bank, pulled out a black handgun and demanded money. After obtaining an undetermined amount of money, the suspect fled on foot toward Pawtucket.

Gould stated that the suspect was a lighter skinned male in his mid- to late- 20s between 5’6” and 5’9”. At the time of the robbery he was wearing a gray sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, blue sneakers, a black mask, sunglasses and dark gloves.

The Rhode Island State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigations are assisting the Lincoln police in finding the suspect.
