The ride's over: Chicago team ousts Cumberland American from LL World Series

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Penn. -- Cumberland American's dream of Little League World Series glory came to an end in its losers' bracket game against Jackie Robinson West LL of Chicago, as the Illinois team scored twice in the top of the fifth inning and held off the locals the rest of the way to snare an 8-7 victory at Howard J. Lamade Stadium.

This game was a seesaw affair through the first three innings, with Cumberland taking a 7-6 lead thanks to a five-run rally in the bottom of the third that was capped by a two-run homer to left by Trey Thibeault.

Unfortunately for Cumberland, the locals committed four errors that led to six unearned runs.

Trey Hondras and Pierce Jones belted home runs for Chicago, which will play Pearland, Texas in the next round of the losers' bracket. Pearland was the team that knocked Cumberland into the losers' bracket last Friday.

C.J. Davock. Addison Kopack, and Tyler Provost each collected two hits for Cumberland. Provost also drove in three runs, and Davock and Kopack each scored twice.
