Auty formally announces campaign for House 62

PAWTUCKET - Travis Auty, Democrat and first-time candidate, has kicked off his campaign for state representative for District 62 in Pawtucket.

"While I have been walking the district for weeks now, I am thrilled to officially get started," he said in a release. "We are already receiving an exceptional amount of support."

Everyone has been "strongly receptive to our message that Pawtucket needs a new, energetic representative with fresh ideas at the Statehouse," said Auty.

Auty and his wife, Katlyn, purchased their first home on Woodhaven Road five years ago. Neither of them has ever run for political office before, but they made a decision earlier this summer to better their community by improving its representation at the Statehouse.

"It starts with representation that is diligent and accountable," he said. "I am going to stand up for our district and our city, not sit down for backroom deals like 38 Studios at the Statehouse."

When legislators "stop doing the people's work, then I believe it is time for the people to elect a change in representation," said Auty.

Auty is encouraging all residents of District 62 to share their comments or concerns when they see him walking the district, or to contact him at, on Facebook at "Travis Auty For State Rep," or at .
