CUMBERLAND - The cast and crew of the musical show "Up with People" arrived in Cumberland Monday and gathered at St. John Vianney Church to meet their host families for the week.

As is their custom in each new town or city, the members jumped on a long list of service projects in addition to their schedule of rehearsals.

Tuesday, they were at:

* The Goodwill Industries of Rhode Island Providence location to interact with the Goodwill clients and volunteers and to collect textile donations.

* Cumberland High School doing landscaping on the campus grounds and painting the curbs.

* B.F. Norton Elementary painting hallways and painting a mural on outside wall or fence.

* Senior Services Inc. in Woonsocket interacting with the seniors and serving them lunch, and participating in an international costumes fashion show.

On Wednesday, they helped with:

* Cumberland High School Leadership workshops and international dance workshop with the freshmen.

* McCourt Middle School landscaping to create new running track on school grounds.

* Diamond Hill Park for cleaning and landscaping chores.

Today, Aug. 28, they are scheduled for CHS again to help with a cultural intelligence workshop with high school leaders.

On Friday, the day of the show, they are due at the Cumberland High School Wellness Center to stage a mini performance for all high school students at 1 p.m.

Showtimes are Friday and Saturday, Aug. 29-30, 7-9 p.m.
