Albert Trapper Kratt Jr. - Smithfield

Albert Trapper “Al” Kratt Jr., 82, of Greenville, passed away peacefully at Miriam Hospital on October 16, 2014. He was the husband of Joyce (Johnson) Kratt.

He was born in Kearny, N.J., a son of the late Albert and Margaret Kratt. He was employed as a U.S. Postal Inspector in Providence for 35 years before his retirement in December 1987.

Albert served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Korea from 1952-56. He was an avid N.Y. Yankees fan and baseball enthusiast, playing semi-professional baseball in New Jersey.

Besides his wife he leaves his daughter, Kathy Messier of Walllingford, Conn., son-in-law Alan Messier; daughter, Robin Shields of Wakefield, son-in-law William Shields; a son, A. Trapper Kratt III of Douglas, Mass., daughter-in-law Michelle; eight grandchildren and two great-granddaughters; and three brothers, Robert, Stephen and Irving Kratt, all of Parsippany, N.J. He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Westura.

His funeral service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 11 a.m. in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial with military honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visitation is Monday from 4-7 p.m.
