Rhode Island Outsider Art Fair premieres Saturday

PAWTUCKET - In conjunction with the 17th annual Pawtucket Arts Festival, Resources for Human Development-Rhode Island will present the Rhode Island Outsider Art Fair on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 24 Commerce St.

RHD-RI is an arts based nonprofit located in downtown Pawtucket that works with artists and musicians with disabilities in order to promote them and their creations and to raise public awareness of their diverse skills and voices. A majority of Rhode Island's premiere programs for artists with disabilities will be joining forces to present their work and wares at the same time, in the same place. Several of the Northeast's well known art centers and galleries will also be exhibiting at this event, the first of its kind in Rhode Island.

Vendors include RHD-RI Outsider Art and Flying Shuttles Studio, both from Pawtucket; Top Drawer from Warren and Jamestown's Bridges. Boston's Outside the Lines, Maine's Spindleworks Art Center and curator Margaret Bodell will also be in attendance.
