Cumberland man charged in drunk-driving rollover

PROVIDENCE – A 25-year-old Cumberland man, Adam Krajanowski of Standring Street, was arrested early Wednesday morning on drunk driving charges after crashing his car into the median on Interstate 95 in Providence, causing it to roll over. Two passengers, who have not been named, were seriously injured, including one who was ejected from the vehicle.

According to a Rhode Island State Police spokeswoman, Krajanowski was charged with driving under the influence causing serious bodily injury, which is a felony; driving under the influence – second offense; and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

The rear-seat passenger, a 23-year-old North Providence man, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the car, Capt. John Allen said in a statement. He and a front-seat passenger, a 25-year-old Providence man, were taken to Rhode Island Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, he said.

State Police say the crash occurred about 1:45 a.m. in the southbound high-speed lane of Interstate 95, near the Atwells Avenue exit. Krajanowski was taken into custody and held overnight, pending arraignment in District Court Wednesday.
