Kaitlin L. Licht – Groton, Conn.

Kaitlin L. Licht, 31, of Groton, Conn., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 21, in Harbor Village Rehab & Nursing Center, New London, Conn., after fighting a courageous battle with breast cancer for a year and a half. She was the loving wife of Kevin D. Licht of 5 years.

Katie was born on November 19, 1985, in Milford, Mass., and was a daughter of Thomas H. Belleville Sr. and Lorraine S. (St. Sauveur) Belleville.

She graduated from Cumberland High School in 2003 and was also a 2004 graduate of Rob Roy Academy Beauty School in Woonsocket. Katie worked at Moon's Restaurant, A.T. Cross, and Damare Salon and Spa. She was currently working at The Salon on Mendon (previously Now Hair This) as a hairstylist.

Katie was a fantastic human being who loved people. She lit up a room with her presence. She was vibrant, beautiful and always at the ready to help others. She did not let her illness stand in her way. She was always positive. Katie kept a smile on her face no matter what. She was hopeful and brave to the very end of her battle. She was our strength and our "ROCK" throughout her journey.

Katie's biggest achievement was that she became a mom to her beautiful daughter, Morgan. She left us a beautiful legacy with Morgan. She was proud to be a Navy wife to Kevin. Katie supported him in every way. She even sported a tattoo of an anchor on her right wrist. She was so looking forward to all the beautiful years ahead. Katie was a dedicated wife, mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend. She will be forever missed by all who knew her but certainly never forgotten.

Besides her husband, Kevin, she is survived by her daughter, Morgan, 2 years old; her father, Thomas H. Belleville Sr. (Helen) of Coventry; her mother, Lorraine S. Belleville, of Cumberland; her brother, Thomas H. Belleville Jr. (Chrissy McCarthy) of Smithfield; her maternal grandmother, Marguerite St. Sauveur, of Cumberland; her paternal grandparents, Joe and Erna Belleville of Woonsocket; her step-sister, Janine Rubano (Nick), of West Greenwich, R.I. She also leaves several aunts, uncles and many cousins. She leaves her precious dog, Samson. Katie was also the sister of the late Danielle Michelle.

Katie's funeral was held on Saturday, Feb. 25 at J.J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Cumberland, R.I. Donations can be made to the Carin MacLean Foundation in Katie's memory.
