Cumberland doctor joins Arbour-Fuller team

CUMBERLAND – Dr. R. Bhawani Prasad, of Cumberland, has joined Arbour-Fuller Hospital’s medical team, which provides mental health services for adolescents and adults in South Attleboro, Mass.

Prasad previously worked in outpatient care for individuals with psychiatric disorders as well as substance abuse disorders at Community Care Network’s Mental Wellness Clinic in Indiana, where he served as the outpatient psychiatric director.

Prasad is a graduate of Osmania Medical College in India and has provided psychiatric consultation services to Community Hospital in Indiana and offered forensic evaluation services for the Lake County Indiana court system, according to a release. The Cumberland resident also worked as psychiatric medical director for “In-Pact,” an organization that helps individuals with developmental disabilities in Indiana, served as chief of the division of psychiatry at Methodist Hospitals and also worked at Saint Catherine Hospital’s psychiatric inpatient unit as the inpatient psychiatric director, the release said.

Prasad has taught at the Northwest Center for Medical Education, Indiana University School of Medicine, and the University of Illinois.

Prasad is a member of American Psychiatric Society, Northwest Indiana Psychiatric Society and the American Medical Association, according to the release.
