Edward C. Mongeon – Woonsocket

Edward C. Mongeon, 90, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 27, surrounded by his wife and family. He was the beloved husband of R. Patricia (Searles) Mongeon for 64 years.

Born in Blackstone, he was the son of the late Francois and Jane A. (Prior) Mongeon. He resided in Woonsocket for the past 29 years previously living in North Smithfield.

Mr. Mongeon was owner and President of Bonollo Provisions Food Service, Providence. He purchased the business in 1968 and operated there until his retirement in 1989. He was a World War II, U.S. Navy veteran.

His life was spent enjoying horse racing and had a passion for owning race horses. He enjoyed spending time with family while at flea markets both in his winter home of Florida and in Rhode Island. He could always be found watching westerns, especially his beloved John Wayne.

Besides his wife, he leaves four children; Jane Adams (Mike Heroux) of Coventry, Edward "Ted" Mongeon and wife Claire of Woonsocket, Kenneth Mongeon and wife, Karen, of North Smithfield and Kathleen Mongeon of Hollywood, Fla.; two grandsons; Jeffrey Adams and wife, Kay, of Providence and Kyle Mongeon of Woonsocket and four great-grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Mary Bolduc and Frances Rondeau of Blackstone.

The celebration of his life and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hope and Hospice Care of RI, 1185 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
