Roland L. DeTonnancourt (Papa) – Lincoln

Roland L. DeTonnancourt died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on June 19, 2017.

Roland is survived by his wife, Sandra (Oakley) DeTonnancourt, his eight children, Kevin Oakley, Phillip Oakley, Maryann Cote, Michael Oakley, Linda Giguere, Karen Kelly, Marlena Crawley and Kathleen Giguere; his brother, Ronald DeTonnancourt, his 17 grandchildren, his four great-grandchildren and his neice, Rhonda Sexton.

Roland was born and raised in Manville and proudly served his country in Vietnam from 1966 to 1971. He was an exceptional baseball player and an avid Yankees fan. Roland was an adventurous soul who liked to hunt, fish, canoe, and enjoy the outdoors. Throughout his life, Roland touched many people’s hearts with his simple easygoing kindness.

A celebration of his life will be held with visitation on Monday, June 26, 2017, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A prayer service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at St. James Cemetery, Manville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Organ Transplant Unit at UMass in Worcester, Mass., or the Home and Hospice Care of RI Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence, Rhode Island.
