Davies director receives honor at national conference

LINCOLN – William M. Davies Jr. Career and Technical High School’s director, Victoria Galliard-Garrick, was named SkillUSA’s “Outstanding Career and Technical Educator” in front of a crowd of 16,000 at a national conference recently.

While serving at Davies, according to a release, Galliard-Garrick “has made the school a model of superior academic achievement, where students gain the skills critical to success in their future careers.”

During her tenure, Davies received a “National Blue-Ribbon School” award in 2013, and student performance and achievement has improved consistently, according to the release.

Galliard-Garrick was recognized at the 53rd annual SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference, where executive director of SkillsUSA, Tim Lawrence, congratulated her.

He said, “Victoria’s leadership ability, administrative prowess, love for learning and respect for humanity have set her apart as an educator who can truly be labeled as ‘outstanding.’”

Lawrence continued, “Her dedication to student success is unquestioned, and the results of that dedication is a model for all educators.”
