Police investigating Dropbox containing sexually explicit photos of Burrillville High School girls

BURRILLVILLE – Detectives with the Burrillville Police Department are looking for the creator, and accomplices, of an online Dropbox account containing sexually explicit images of more than 40 female students at Burrillville High School, most of whom were underage when the photos were taken.

The Providence Journal reports that Vice Principal David Alba first notified police about the Dropbox on May 25. A male student provided school administrators with a link to the Dropbox.

When police opened the Dropbox file they found 48 folders, most labeled with the name of a different female student, and 14 of which contain sexually explicit images or videos of the girls, according to an affidavit by Inspector Michael Bouchard.

In June detectives questioned at least 42 of the girls and learned that most were underage when the photos were taken, some as young as 13.

The investigation could yield felony charges of distribution of child pornography, cyber harassment, and child exploitation.
