Local students receive R.I. Red Sox Service Scholarships

BOSTON – Thirty-two recent graduates of Rhode Island public high schools were honored with Rhode Island Red Sox Service Scholarships on the field at Fenway, in partnership with the Ford Fund and New England Ford Dealers.

Students were presented with their scholarships at a recent home game at Fenway Park against the Cleveland Indians.

The $1,000 Red Sox Service Scholarships are awarded to students based on academic performance, financial aid eligibility, and demonstrated community service.

Students honored, in attendance at the event, included Colleen Enestvedt, (Cumberland High School - Saint Anselm College); Angela Macksoud, (Lincoln High School - Wheaton College); Matthew Vinacco, (Scituate High School - University of Rhode Island); Casey Movsovitz, (North Providence High School - Providence College); Jacob DiSpirito, (North Smithfield High School - Brown University); Brittney Baptista, (William E. Tolman High School - University of Rhode Island); Samuel Hart, (Smithfield High School - St. John’s University); and Fatou Kine Dieng, (Woonsocket High School - Smith College).

Students honored, not in attendance at Fenway, included Sarah Charbonneau, (Ponaganset High School - Drexel University); and Ana Brasil, (Charles E. Shea High School - Tufts University).
