Police Department unveils improvements in open house

SMITHFIELD – The Smithfield Police Department will host an open house event on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This is the community’s opportunity to view the newly expanded facility.

Attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to support the Smithfield Rotary Backpack Program, which provides local, needy children with healthy food and snacks.

The following items are recommended: applesauce, baked beans, bars of soap, cereal, Chef-Boyardee, chili, crackers, fruit cups/cans, goldfish, granola bars, hot cocoa, jelly, laundry soap, mac and cheese, oatmeal, pancake mix, pasta, pasta sauce, peanut butter, popcorn, pretzels, pudding, raisins, rice, shampoo, canned vegetables, soup, stew, syrup, toothpaste, tuna.
