Matthew O. Mousseau – Smithfield

Matthew O. Mousseau “Papa Moose,” 89, passed away at home Friday, September 15, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Bridgeton, R.I., a son of the late Albert and Elizabeth (McCormick) Mousseau. Mr. Mousseau was an equipment installer for the former Nynex Phone Co. for 40 years before retiring in 1989. He had lived in Greenville since 1959 and was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War, serving aboard the U.S.S. Grenadier and the U.S.S. Tringa. He was a member of the NRA and the I.B.E.W. local #99.

He was an avid Redsox, N.Y. Giants and Boston Bruins fan, who also enjoyed hunting, fishing, music, NASCAR and being in the outdoors.

He was the father of Theodore “Ted” S. Mousseau and his wife, Pauline, of Spring Hill, Fla.; Michael J. Mousseau and his wife, Debbie, of North Scituate; Jean H. Mandigo and her husband, Jeff, of Wolfeboro, N.H.; and Michelle “Mickie” M. Mousseau and her husband, John Quinn, of Culleoka, Tenn. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brandon A., Colton M. and Carissa E. Mousseau, Miranda L. Martin, Brianna J. Fearing, Kailey M. and Emily P. Mandigo; his great-grandchildren Mason Salois, Makenna Martin and Lilith Fearing. He was the brother of Mary Dwyer, Susan Colburn and the late John Mousseau and Ann Sutherland.
