Philip J. Manosh – Cumberland

Philip J. Manosh, of Cumberland, passed away at Mount Saint Rita Health Center accompanied by his family on Sunday, October 1, 2017. He was the beloved husband of the late Germaine (Gauthier) Manosh. He was a gentle, humble man whose faith guided his life.

Born in Pawtucket, R.I., he was the son of the late William and Alexandrine (Bonneau) Manosh and Rebecca (Dionne) Manosh. As an infant, the family relocated to Canada where he was raised and educated, and married in 1946.

Besides his late wife, he was the loving father of Michel Manosh and wife, Janice, of West Warwick, R.I.; Suzanne Ryan and her late husband, Robert Ryan, of Smithfield R.I.; Karen Malchiodi and husband, Daniel, of Marstons Mills, MA; Jeffrey Manosh and wife, Sue Anne, of Milford, MA; and the late infant son Kevin Manosh.

He was also the devoted grandfather of Michele (Manosh) Claeson and husband, Mathew; Michel Manosh Jr. and wife, Aymee; Kevin Ryan and wife, Patty; and Christopher Ryan and wife, Tiffany.

Also, he was the great-grandfather of Emilie, Madeline and Mathew Claeson, Landon Manosh, Victoria and Robert Ryan, and Brenna Ryan.

He was one of 10 children: Mrs. Marguerite Lepage, Mrs. Jeannine Rebello, Mrs. Therese Fischer, and the late Mrs. Madeleine Halle, Maurice, Thomas, Bernard, Wilfred and William Manosh. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

He was a graduate of St. Frederic Academy in Drummondville, Quebec, and New England Technical Institute of Providence, R.I. He was employed as a licensed electrician and electronics technician with the former Washburn Wire Co. & The Okonite Company.

He was a lifelong member of St. Thomas Council Knights of Columbus in Cumberland, St. Patrick’s Parish, and the senior clubs of St. Patrick’s and St. Aidan’s. He was a U.S. Navy World War II Veteran of the Asiatic Pacific Theatre and the Korean War. He was one of five brothers who served concurrently in the Armed Forces.

Funeral with military honors will be held on Thursday, Oct 5, at J.J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rte 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, 301 Broad St., Cumberland. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Calling hours will be Thursday from 9-10:30 a.m.
