Dorothy “Dottie” M. McCreadie, 94, died Saturday, October 28, 2017, at the Holiday Retirement Home, Manville. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond McCreadie.

Born in Saylesville, a daughter of the late James W. and Beatrice (Crompton) Webster, she had lived most of her life in Lincoln.

Mrs. McCreadie was the first woman licensed as an auto mechanic in the State of R.I., and was co-owner, with her late husband, of the former McCreadie’s Garage, Lincoln. She had also worked for the former New England Telephone Co., Pawtucket.

During World War II, she was a volunteer driving ambulances for the Red Cross. She was a member of the Fairlawn-Lincoln Fireman’s Auxillary, and was a graduate of Kenyon’s Business School.

She is survived by one daughter, Dorothy M. Renaud, and her husband Leo, of Conway, S.C.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. She was the sister of the late Barbara Webster Green.

Her funeral service will be held Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, at 7 p.m., in Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call prior to the service from 4 to 7 p.m.
