BLACKSTONE, Mass. – Kaylee McMorrow and Jacob Letourneau say it was their love of dogs that inspired them to launch the latest business to join the Blackstone community, A Clean Companion.

The shop, located at 157 Main St., offers full- or self-service dog washes, and sells an array of products for their customers’ furry friends.

“We’re trying to build it up to where all your pet needs, you can get here,” said Letourneau.

The business opened in September in a space that was previously part of The Dance Company, and was renovated to include three stalls where owners can either wash the pets themselves, or pass them off to staff.

“We did a lot of the work ourselves,” Letourneau said of the renovations, adding of the stalls, “They all can fit almost any size dog.”

A Clean Companion currently sells many other items geared toward pets, including treats, poo bags, leashes, collars, toys, soaps and food.

Both McMorrow and Letourneau grew up in nearby North Smithfield, and say they’re familiar with the community. They now live in Providence with their four children ages 6, 4, 3 and 2.

“We’ve both been dog people our whole lives. My mother bred boxers,” said Letourneau. Plus, he noted, “There’s nothing like this in the area.”

A self-service dog wash at the shop costs $12.50 or customers can go with full service for $17.50. The business does not offer grooming services, but does have wall-mounted blow dryers.

“The whole process takes 15 minutes,” Letourneau said.

The business is currently running an introductory promotion with free nail cutting with any dog wash. They also have “The Dirty Dog Club” frequent customer card, offering half off for every five visits.

Plus, they note, they’re comfortable working with difficult dogs.

A Clean Companion is open Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
