Cumberland names new Rescue Service deputy medical director

Dr. Heather Rybasack will provide medical oversight for Cumberland Rescue.

CUMBERLAND – Dr. Heather Rybasack, a fellow in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, is now serving as deputy medical director to the Cumberland Rescue Service.

EMS fellows are physicians who have completed a residency in emergency medicine and are seeking further training in the leadership and medical oversight of emergency care systems.

Following completion of her fellowship, Rybasack will be eligible to take a subspecialty exam and become board certified as an EMS physician.

As the deputy medical director, Rybasack will work with the director to provide medical oversight for the service. She will be working out of headquarters and be heavily involved in the department’s quality management program, including reviewing all patient encounters and providing clinical feedback to staff. She will also be responding to calls on the ambulances or in a supervisor vehicle.

Rybasack is graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and received her master’s degree in public health from the Boston University School of Public Health.

She completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and Rhode Island Hospital.
