Uchmanowicz honored for her community work

SMITHFIELD – Mary Kay Uchmanowicz, licensed owner and board-certified audiologist at Twin Rivers Hearing Health Inc. in Smithfield, was honored last month by the Rhode Island Minority Elder Task Force as an “Everyday Hero,” one of 11 people who have given their time, energy and compassion to improve the lives of Rhode Islanders.

Often unheralded, recipients are examples of great purpose, dedication and community building, states a release.

Uchmanowicz has supported the Salvatore Mancini Resource & Activity Center in North Providence for more than 10 years, helping seniors with their hearing and hearing aid issues.

“A board-certified audiologist for over 30 years, Dr. Uchmanowicz maintains a genuine rapport with her patients who drive from miles around for an evaluation and treatment of hearing loss and ringing in the ears, and are in need of personalized hearing solutions and preventative devices,” states a biography for Uchmanowicz.

Uchmanowicz previously donated hearing aids to the people of the Philippines, examining and fitting patients. She is also a member of the Rhode Island Chapter of the National Aging in Place Council and educates people about hearing loss solutions.
