Elizabeth A. “Bette” Pogany

Elizabeth A. “Bette” (Bishop) Pogany of Riverside passed away peacefully Friday, December 15, 2017, at Miriam Hospital, Providence.

Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Eloise (Dowell) Bishop and the late Howard S. Bishop, Sr., she had lived in Riverside for over 20 years.

Bette was a secretary for the Public Defender’s Office for the State of Rhode Island for 20 years before retiring.

She is survived by four brothers, Richard Bishop (Debra) of New Carlisle, Ohio, Harry Bishop (Suzanne) of North Smithfield, Charles Bishop of Foster and Donald Bishop (Patricia) of Chesapeake, Va.; two sisters, Kathryn Wilson (Bruce) of Lincoln and Deborah Taylor of Cumberland; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was the sister of the late Howard S. Bishop, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service Friday, December 22, at 11 a.m., in Chapel Street Congregational Church, 185 Chapel Street, Lincoln. Her burial will be private.
