James H. Russell III – Cumberland

James H. Russell III, 47, of Crestwood Court, Cumberland, R.I., died unexpectedly in his sleep, Nov. 29, 2017, after a brief illness.

Jim was born and bred in Smithfield R.I., and resided at Pole 12 Burlingame Road, Smithfield. He attended Anna Mc Cabe Elementary School, Smithfield Jr. High School, graduating from Smithfield High School. Jim also earned his associates degree in film, audio & video production at New England Technical Institute.

While earning his degree by taking evening classes, he also worked at various companies including Chemart in Smithfield, A&H Mfg. in Johnston, & Sherwin Williams, to put himself through college, and achieved his goal of attaining his associate degree. He also was a longtime employee of Different Frames of Mind, Franklin, Mass., owned by Cheryl Coni.

Jim leaves behind his estranged wife, Stephanie Russell (Coni), beloved mother, Karen Russell Oakland, proud stepfather, Jeffrey A. Oakland, and father, James H. Russell Jr., loving sister, Colleen P. Russell, Uncle "Bobby" Russell, and aunt Patricia Shipman., as well as numerous Russell cousins. He was the grandson of the late Evelyn Clark Russell and the late James H. Russell Sr., owner of the former James H. Russell Trucking Co., Rocky Hill Road, Smithfield.

Jim pursued his video & audio career by videotaping weddings, & his special interest was the performances of the King Crimson Band, which he also videotaped. To those who knew him and loved him, he was known as the “Fat Fox That Rocks.” May he rock on forever & rest in peace.

His cremation was private on Dec. 4, 2017. Arrangements were under the direction of J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Cumberland.
