Man charged in 2016 Pawtucket murder

PAWTUCKET – After a year-long investigation by Pawtucket Detectives Raymond Doran and Susan Cormier, Alexander Dejesus, 24, of 68 Cote Ave. in Chicopee, Mass. has been charged with the Sept. 24, 2016 murder of Dylan Contreras.

At around 2:15 a.m. on Sept. 24, 2016, officers were dispatched to Underwood Street for a report of a car striking a tree. Upon arrival, officers saw that a blue BMW had struck the tree in front of 66 Underwood St. The driver, Dylan Contreras, was transported from the scene to Rhode Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Contreras was found to have sustained two gunshot wounds to the head.

Dejesus was indicted by a grand jury in December and arrested by the Chicopee Police Department on Dec. 21. He was arraigned Wednesday, Jan. 3, in Superior Court, where he was held without bail.

Dejesus was charged with murder, possession of a firearm without a license, and using a firearm while committing a crime of violence.
