Hope Historical Society opposes demolition of former police station

Our members have recently received the mailing regarding the referendum for the bond for the new building of the new Scituate Police Station.

It is noted in the mailing, demolition of the present building.

The Hope Historical Society opposes the demolition and is not in favor of demolition of the current historic Scituate Police station. We should preserve and protect this building from demolition. It is very important for the village of Hope. Many of our members have wonderful memories of the police station as a community house and we have many records and pictures of the building being the school for Hope.

There should be a use for this building, following remediation of its concerns, for a community house, senior center, etc. for residents of Hope. There is nothing in town services for this kind of thing here in the southern part of Scituate.

Again, the Hope Historical Society opposes the demolition and is not in favor of demolition of the current historic Scituate Police station.
