Beacon Theatre Workshop presents ‘The Merchant of Venice’

WOONSOCKET – For its winter production, Beacon Theatre Workshop is bringing the Woonsocket community to Florida – Venice, Fla., in 1962.

Show dates and times are: Thursday-Saturday, Jan. 11-13 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Jan. 14 at 2 p.m., at the Beacon Theatre Workshop, 320 Main St., Woonsocket, third floor.

Shakespeare’s classic “The Merchant of Venice,” adapted by Beacon Charter High School’s theatre director, Jason Robert LeClair, offers a poignant comedic look at feminism, anti-semitism, and a patriarchal/religious based justice system. Even with such heavy topics, the cast and crew find the inherent humor in Shakespeare’s classic story of love and revenge.

Tickets are available at beacon.booktix.com and are $10 for general admission or $8 for students.
