Omer Roger Desjarlais – Saint Cloud, Fla.

Omer Roger Desjarlais of Saint Cloud, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, with his beloved niece Paulette by his side. He was born August 22, 1934, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, to the late Emile A. and Clarinda (Chartier) Desjarlais.

Omer was predeceased by and has now joined his devoted and loving wife, Susan Desjarlais; his sisters: Cecile Jalbert, Theresa Lefebvre, Doris Desjarlais and two brothers Roland and Gerard. Omer leaves behind two sisters, Rose Jalbert and Simone Ferland, both of Rhode Island; his niece and her husband, Paulette and Denis Boiteau of Massachusetts; stepson and wife, George and Anne Deane Jr. of Florida; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and many dear friends and loyal neighbors.

Omer was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army in which he served during the Korean War. Following his discharge, he owned and operated his excavating business for many years in Rhode Island. Most knew him as "Frenchy." Omer was a generous contributor to many Catholic and Veteran's charities as well as St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Throughout most of his adult life, he loved spending his summers in Maine with his wife, Susan, family and their dear friends of The Brothers Of Christian Instruction on the Notre Dame Campus.

A celebration of Omer's life will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in St. Cloud, Fla., on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 11 a.m. The interment of his cremated remains will follow at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, donations made to St. Jude Children's Hospital Research would be deeply appreciated. Arrangements are under the care of Osceola Memory Gardens Funeral Home, St. Cloud, Fla.
