Donald L. Sorensen – Johnston

Donald L. Sorensen, of Johnston, died on January 15, 2018, in Rhode Island Hospital. Donald was born in Odebolt, Iowa, the son of the late Herman and Pearl (Miller) Sorensen.

He was the husband of Dianne Marie (Famiglietti) Sorensen and is survived by two sons, Kevin Sorensen of Burrillville and Keith Sorensen of Glocester, and one daughter, Karen Sorensen, of Johnston; three grandchildren, Cheryl Larsson, Sarah Sorensen, Kevin Sorensen; one great-granddaughter, Caramia Belanger; one brother, Herman Sorensen Jr.

He was the brother of the late Herb, Leroy, Kenneth, Murl, and Pat Sorensen.

Mr. Sorensen was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War.

Mr. Sorensen had been a self-employed carpenter. He and his business partner, Donald Dennehy, specialized in residential carpentry.

He was an avid gardener and enjoyed playing cards and completing puzzles.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, Jan. 22 at 10 a.m. at the Winfield & Sons Funeral Home, 571 West Greenville Road, Scituate. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Calling Hours will be on Monday from 8 to 10 a.m.
