Francis G. Gerstner – Lincoln

Francis G. Gerstner, 83, of Lincoln passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket, R.I.

He was the husband of Patricia J. (Savard) Gerstner for 63 years. Born September 24, 1934 in Wyandotte, Mich., he was a son of the late Francis and Marian (Schenck) Gerstner.

Frank grew up in Ecorse, Mich., and lived in the Down River area of Detroit in the early part of his life. He lived in Cumberland, R.I., for 44 years before moving to Lincoln. He was a 1952 graduate of St. Francis Xavier High School in Ecorse.

Frank worked in retail management all of his career and at Anderson Little for more than 20 years before retiring in 1999.

He was a longtime communicant of St. Mary’s Church in North Attleboro and loved to travel. He loved to watch sports, was a devoted Michigan fan, and was an avid photographer.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: James F. Gerstner and wife Karen of Houston, Texas, and Lawrence J. Gerstner of Newton, Mass. He was father of the late John P. (age 50) and Gerald A. Gerstner (age 2).

He was the brother of a sister, Elizabeth Girt of Michigan; and the late Marian Louise Migliaccio and Richard Gerstner.

He also leaves five grandchildren: Laura Walbridge, Allison Hemwattakit, and Elizabeth, Emily and Paulina Gerstner. Frank had one niece and five nephews who reside in Michigan.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 26, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove St., North Attleboro. A funeral will be held from the funeral home on Saturday, January 27, at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass at St. Mary’s Church, 14 Park St., North Attleboro, at 10 a.m.

Burial will be in Michigan, the family’s home state.
