Reynald L. Giguere – Blackstone

Reynald L. Giguere, 88, of Blackstone, Mass., passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at the Friendly Home with loving family by his side.

He is the beloved husband for 65 years of Muriel C. (Beaudoin) Giguere. Born in Blackstone on February 2, 1929, he is the son of the late Joseph and Elveda (Dalpe) Giguere.

He is the loving father of Denise J. Cardin and her partner, Sherry L. Masse, of Blackstone, and Diane T. Lozeau and her husband, Marc, of Newton, N.H. He leaves his cherished grandchildren, Eric Cardin and his wife, Amanda Mahoney, of Colorado; Jeffery Lozeau of Newton, N.H., and Kimberly Lozeau and her fiancé, Kevin Razzano, of Newton, N.H. He is the brother of Herve Giguere and his wife, Helen, of Woonsocket, Paul Giguere and his wife, Hugette, of Blackstone, Jeannette Giguere of Woonsocket, and the late Gerald Giguere. He also leaves his nieces and nephews.

He was a United States Army Korean War Veteran attaining the rank of corporal and was a member of the American Legion.

A lifelong resident of Blackstone, he worked for 21 years at Wrentham State School in charge of furniture repair, retiring in 1991, and previously worked at the U.S. Rubber Company for 25 years.

Mr. & Mrs. Giguere were married on May 30, 1953 at St. Ann’s Church Woonsocket. He was a communicant of St. Theresa Church in Blackstone, and was a member of the Cheerful Givers. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed woodworking and traveling. Devoted to his family, he will be greatly missed.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m., from Cartier's Funeral Home, 151 So. Main St., Route 126, Bellingham, Mass., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., at St. Theresa Church, 630 Rathbun St., Blackstone, Mass. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland, with military honors. Visiting hours are on Wednesday, January 31, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
