Claire Y. (Gagnon) Coia, 83, formerly of Providence, passed away Monday, March 5, 2018, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Pasco Coia.

Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Lillian (Theroux) Gagnon. She resided in Cumberland for the past 16 years, previously residing on DePinedo Street in Providence.

Claire was a communicant of the St. Ann Church, Providence.

Her life was dedicated to her family, her children and grandchildren. She was an extraordinary cook, with some of her most cherished dishes being her French Meat Pie and her Sunday gravy. She enjoyed ceramics, travel, cooking and time with her family.

She leaves her devoted children, Patricia Pagliarini (Edward) of Scituate, R.I., Nanci Bankson (Douglas) of Olathe, Kan., Carolyn Coia of Cumberland and Cathy Coia of Cumberland; her loving sister, Dorothy Shabo, of Pawtucket; her grandchildren, Michael Pagliarini, Nicole Pagliarini, Kayla Bankson and Connor Bankson; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Eugene and Gerard Gagnon.

Family and friends are invited to Claire’s Life Celebration. Visiting hours will be held Saturday, March 10, from 8 to 9:30 a.m., in the J.J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Route 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., at the St. Ann Church, Hawkins Street, Providence. Burial will follow at the Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.

In lieu of flowers, donation in her name to Rhode Island: American Diabetes Association, would be appreciated.
