Lincoln's Chatragadda wins Rhode Island State Spelling Bee

Lohith Chatragadda, age 13, an 8th grader at Lincoln Middle School, smiles as he wins the Rhode Island Spelling Bee. After 27 rounds in one of the longest state bees, Lohith bested the second place finisher Anna Costello, a 6th grader at Gallagher Middle School in Smithfield. Lohith will represent Rhode Island at the National Spelling Bee in National Harbor, Maryland , May 29-31. The bee, sponsored by The Valley Breeze, was held at Lincoln Middle School, Saturday.

After 27 rounds and one of the longest-ever state bees, Chatragadda bested second place finisher Anna Costello, a 6th-grader at Gallagher Middle School in Smithfield. He will represent Rhode Island at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in National Harbor, Maryland in May. The bee, sponsored by The Valley Breeze, was held at Lincoln Middle School.
