Charles K. Rogers – Bluffton, S.C.

Charles K. Rogers, 74, of Bluffton, S.C., passed away on March 21, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Charlotte M. Rogers. He was the son of the late Charles and Irene (Oliveira) Rogers of Riverside, R.I. He lived in Bluffton for nine years, formerly residing in Smithfield, R.I.

Mr. Rogers was a graduate of Roger Williams Jr. College, and received a bachelor's and master's degrees from Rhode Island College. He started his career in education teaching at Smithfield High School, then South Attleboro Middle School. He taught and became principal of the Rhode Island Training School for Boys. He co-owned the Hall Institute of Technology from 1972-1993. He was employed by New England Institute of Technology as the assistant to the president from 1994 until his retirement in 2009.

Mr. Rogers finished his teaching career as a substitute elementary school teacher in Beaufort, S.C. His greatest joy was teaching children. He was past president of the Smithfield Lions Club and the Roger Williams Kiwanis Club; he was a volunteer at Bluffton Self Help.

Besides his wife of 52 years, he leaves a daughter, Debra, her husband, Thomas Howard; two sons, Timothy Rogers his wife, Suzanne, and Christopher Rogers his wife, Terri. He also leaves four grandsons, Christopher Rogers, Daniel Rogers, Thomas Howard III, Nicholas Howard, and two granddaughters Maritza and Tiffany Howard, and many special foster children who entered his life. He also leaves a sister, Donna, and her husband John Ferreira.

A Celebration of Life will be held at his daughter's residence at 76 Pleasant View Ave., Greenville, R.I., on Sunday, April 22, 2018, from 1 to 5 p.m.
