Jean F. C. Morelle – Cumberland

Jean F. C. Morelle, 90, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 1, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Gloria (Harpin) Morelle. They were happily married for 69 years. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Paul and Blanche (Boite) Morelle.

Jean attended Assumption Preparatory School, Worcester, Mass., Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston, and graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1979. Jean was a Coast Guard Veteran of World War II and was also a member of the United States Power Squadron.

Jean worked at his family’s textile mill, Star Carbonizing in Woonsocket, R.I., retiring in the late 80s and then began a second career in real estate. Jean was known for his great sense of humor along with his love of mathematics, Naval and world history.

Jean loved his wife, Gloria, and his family dearly. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Jerome Morelle and his wife, Donna, Richard Morelle and his wife, Laurie; five grandchildren, Todd Morelle, Laura Query, Andrea Egan, Stephanie and Jessica Morelle; and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Michelle Morelle.

He was the father of the late John Morelle, the grandfather of the late John Morelle the 3rd, and the brother of the late Theresa Paquette, Blanche Nadeau, Paul, Pierre and Jacques Morelle.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, April 7 at 10 a.m., at Saint John Vianney Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
